The material of the pan has to be ferromagnetic—most pans are listed for what heating sources they operate in. Certain grades of stainless steel, cast iron (enameled cast iron, like a Le Creuset Dutch oven), and carbon steel work. If you aren’t sure if your pan will work with the Control Freak Home, you can take a fridge magnet and stick it on the bottom. If it magnetizes and stays on the pan, it will work! Ceramic, glass, aluminum, copper pans, and clay pots won’t work.
Due to the unique high-precision sensor in the Control Freak Home cooktop, the pan also needs to have a smooth, flat bottom—cookware with a concave or convex base will not work.
Why is the Control Freak Home not recognizing my pan?
If the Control Freak Home is not recognizing your pan, please make sure it fits the pan material and size requirements listed above. Most important is that a magnet sticks to it; it has a smooth, flat base and is between 5.5 and 10 inches in diameter.
