If your Joule is not currently able to connect to Wi-Fi or the cloud, you can still use it through the Breville+ app with Bluetooth only. Follow the steps below carefully.
Before you begin, make sure you are standing near your Joule.
Step 1: Remove Joule from Your Account
You will need to delete the appliance before setting it up again.
In the Breville+ App
Open the Breville+ app.
Tap the Settings gear icon at the bottom right.
Select your Joule.
Tap Delete from account.
Confirm by selecting Delete [appliance name].
In the Original Joule App (if previously connected there)
Open the Joule app.
Tap the three lines in the upper left corner.
Go to Settings.
Select your Joule’s name.
Tap Disconnect Joule.
When prompted, select Okay to confirm.
Step 2: Factory Reset Your Joule
Unplug Joule.
Plug it back in.
Immediately press and hold the top button for at least 15 seconds.
Keep holding until the light begins blinking yellow.
If the light does not blink yellow, unplug and try again. You may need to press and hold the top button as you plug it in.
When the light becomes steady white, the reset is complete.
Step 3: Pair Joule Using Bluetooth Only
Open the Breville+ app.
Tap the Settings gear icon (bottom right).
Select Add.
Choose Sous Vide.
Select your Joule and tap Add.
Select Connect your sous vide.
Press the top cap button when prompted.
Tap Pair sous vide.
When the Wi-Fi network list appears:
Tap Skip in the upper right corner.
Select Continue with Bluetooth only.
Name your Joule.
Tap Skip to home.
Your Joule is now connected via Bluetooth.
Important Notes About Bluetooth Mode
Bluetooth has a shorter range than Wi-Fi. You must be near Joule to start a cook.
Once the cook has started, Joule will continue maintaining temperature even if you leave Bluetooth range.
To make changes during a cook, you will need to be back within Bluetooth range.
Firmware Requirement (Original Joule SV Only)
Your Original Joule must be on firmware version 175 or 123.1 to connect via Bluetooth in the Breville+ app.
If these steps are not working, your Joule may need a firmware update. Firmware updates require a temporary Wi-Fi connection.
If needed, you can use a mobile hotspot temporarily to complete the update:
Hotspot requirements:
Must broadcast on 2.4 GHz.
On iPhone:
Go to Settings → Personal Hotspot
Turn Maximize Compatibility ON (if available)
On Android:
Check hotspot settings and confirm it is set to 2.4 GHz
On Android 12 or newer, enable Extend Compatibility or Maximize Compatibility if available
After updating, you can return to Bluetooth-only setup if preferred.
