If your Joule is attempting to heat but is either not circulating, not heating, or Joule cannot start (possibly with a blinking red/orange LED), we’re hoping you may be willing to try the following to troubleshoot:
If possible, start a test cook with Joule (no food necessary, just put Joule in a water bath with the top of the outlet exposed and select any guide/time & temp) and check to see whether water is being pumped through the outlet. This will tell you whether the motor and propeller are running/spinning.
If the propeller is spinning but your water is not heating, then please follow the cleaning steps for Joule. If your water is still not heating, use the link below to contact support so we can help!
If your Joule is not circulating or Joule cannot start, please try the following:
-
Unplug Joule from the wall and ensure that Joule is completely cool before next step.
-
Once you’re certain Joule’s foot is cool, remove the foot from the bottom by gently unscrewing.
-
Once the foot has been removed, spin/rotate the propeller 360 degrees several times (try 20 or more times) and ensure it turns freely (rotating with little effort while attached to motor shaft). Also verify the propeller is not broken, bent, cracked, or misaligned.
-
Replace the foot
-
Plug Joule back in
-
Attempt to start Joule again and observe whether or not the motor is running/spinning correctly and water is now heating.
-
If successful, or if still having issues, then please follow the cleaning steps for Joule. If you continue to experience issues, use the link below to contact support so we can help!
